Storyline
We had a basic storyline for our thriller because we believed that if we executed the simple things well the overall story would be affective and would capture the right shots and perspectives. To make a successful thriller we had a few shots that we had to include to capture the type of story we wanted.
Intro
We started out with a pan shot that established the location so the viewer knows where we are, also as you look upon the house you are able to see that it is abandoned and there is young girl standing there.
Different shots
The different shots we went for are varying from; two shots, high angle, low angle, long shot, establishing, but the most affective shot we went for is a two shot. Because we needed to show that the girl is in the house and you can see her, but the victim cannot so it creates an effect of horror.
The house
One of the main shots we used in the house was when Pearce goes to do his hair in a broken mirror but the girl is in the background. Then we sweep round to where she should be but she’s not there, this we thought was a great shot because this is when you really realise that the girl is in the house.
Also the hand held camera was very affective because it makes the thriller seems a lot more “Real” and could give the affect that it could happen to them. This in the long run will make the viewer seem more scared because in the back of their mind the they still might believe it could happen to them.

Filming Diary - days 1,2,3
When arriving at our location first of all we all looked around and discussed changes that needed to be made to our initial idea for the film.
We chose which rooms we would film in and where the cameras would be situated.

Outtakes!
Filming from a high angle, this is when the boys are looking around the house. As they are lower down this shows them to be vunderable and weak.

Character Profile - 'Pearce'
This character is the antagonist of our film, usually a antagonist is a character or set of characters that challenges the protagonist. However in our thriller clip the antagonist is seen as a threat by the protagonist, as the clip goes on we see this character captured by 'The Girl'. Once captured the audience conclude that Pearce has been possessed and is now the protagonist along with 'The Girl'.
We are firstly introduced with Pearce walking with his friend along the abounded house, as the clip goes on we suspect a certain resemblance between him and 'The Girl', he is keen to drift off onto his own whilst in the house and feels more comfortable attempting to explore it than James . 'The Girl' starts to consistently following him and once he realises this he goes into a heap of panic and franticly looks out for his friend James. Pearce tries to come across as if he is in control of the situation but in fact 'The Girl' is setting up a plot for his capture.
Costume Choice
Like James, Pearce is still a typical teenager and his clothing is in the same category as James but with a different meaning. Pearce wearing all black consisting of black shoe's , black t-shirt and a black jacket give the audience the sense of vulnerability and darknesses.
All black clothing is a meaning of problem and death, this can symbolise the abounded house how past people have lived and died and how the house has become destroyed. Pearce in the clip represents these trouble which could be the reason why he is captured by 'The Girl'.
Once Pearce has been captured he changed outfit and wears the same black jeans and shoes ( not that the audience would be able to see this ) but a white formal shirt. The last shot is of Pearce and 'The Girl' and shows their relationship has grown. Both having a formal dress code also bring a sense of belongingness to the pair.
Having all black casual costume is extremely effective as it allows Pearce to switch from his everyday all life, to 'The Girl's' situation. Changing from an all black t-shirt to a white formal shirt helps symbolise this.
Character Profile - 'James'
'James' unlike our main character ( The Girl ) , has a identity and given name which is revealed later on in the film. He is a stereotypical teenager that seems to be confident and nothing extravagant of the basics of society. We first are introduced to James at the start of the clip as he is walking past an abandoned house with his mate on a normal day.
As the clips goes on we realise James enjoys an adventure and after some convincing from his friend he continues to explore the run down house. Certain shots show James anxiety as he soon realises the house is currently being habited by 'The Girl'. James is a very important part of the clip, unlike his mate he manages to escape which clashes with the stereotypical view that the male gender is more superior in horrid situations. It works effectively as it give the clip a twist and keeps the audience engaged in the film.

Costume choice...
After discussing the character roles in the clip we decided that his costume couldn't be to extreme and nothing he wouldn't wear on a normal day. We wanted the costume to be casual and black jeans , black t-shirt and a red jacket fitted in we'll with these demands.
However we made sure the costume was not random and their had to be some relevance, the fact the jacket is red show's their is a sense of danger and aggression. Red is a enhancing colour and draws attention to certain situations that are occurring. Throughout the clip is allows the audience to acknowledge James's desperation to get out the house and to safety.
The costume may be to casual but that is what we are trying to justify abnormal situations can having on a day to day basis and the red jacket highlights the tension caused.

Influences for our choice of Antagonist
Samera Morgan from 'The Ring' is a great influence for Rachael in our thriller.
The character is everything we want Rachael to inforce's in our thriller movie.
Samera has a mysterious voice and is unseen from the character in the film, however the audience see her
We hope Rachael accomplishes this kind of role in our Thriller which will make our film more professional.

Chosen Title For Our Thriller
The title of your film could be the most crucial part when marketing your thriller and trying to attracts customers to view your film. The name of a film has some significance and could be seen more important than the actually footage in certain aspects. When producing a film marketing is the first step on how to produce a successful movie. As a group we finally decided the given name of our thriller would be identity.
Identity represents or sums up various characterises which makes someone recognisable in a group of society. Identity in our thriller symbolises the fact that 'The Girl' has been mislead and is stuck in-between two separate worlds where she is unable to actively participate or function in the human world. Having the title of our film as 'Identity', the audience sub-consciously recognises their must be certain issue's to do if a person's placement is correct throughout the film. Also it allows the audience to acknowledge what the film may consist of a break it down into a sub-genre and recognise that the film is a physiological thriller. Once again this helps the audience portray an image of what the film may or may not consist of before realise date, added tension is signified by the audience before the actually viewing off the film. As a group these are the reason why we believe the film must have a significant title.
Character Profile: "The Girl"
This character is the protagonist of our thriller; she is a girl who seems to be inhumane and disturbed. She is situated in an abandoned derelict house so we assume she lives there or did previously. As we have only filmed the opening 2 minutes of a thriller, you just become introduced to her. She is seen in the background of a lot of shots and this makes her an enigma to the audience. The viewers, as well as the 2 victims, played by a pair of teenage boys, can also see her as a threat, as they will (if our thriller is successful) feel as if they’re part of the story, causing them to fear her.
It is controversial for the person posing a threat to be played by a girl and for the victims to be male is unusual. By choosing to do this in our film, we have broken the conventional character types of a thriller by going against the norms. I believe we have successfully done this because from watching the clip, I think it works effectively and portrays fear in the victims due to the over powering sense of inhumanity you can sense from the girl.
Costume choice...
For my costume we chose a cream lace dress, we all thought that this dress portrayed purity and innocence because of the colours. The dress reminded us all of a young child, and ‘dolls’ we all agreed that this would create quite a ‘freaky’ atmosphere because it challenges a classic stereotype of a ‘badies’ costume. We then chose black tights and shoe boots because they gave an ‘edgey’ look it. They gave a sense of danger with the colour coding being black representing darkness and uncertainty.
The makeup I used was dark black eye shadow all around my eyes, this gave a tired and creepy and also unnatural look to my face. My hair was back combed to complete the look even more.
I believe the costume worked effectively, because it was unusual and original, it is an enigma to the audience but at the same time they can tell that I was not playing a normal girl due to the abnormal make up.
New Location Evaulation
Our new location is a abandoned house in Hutton Mount. The house has a owner who currently is planning development to the house but needs the council's permission.
Above is a photo of the kitchen. You notice this is a kitchen from the titles, cupboards and fridge, freezer area. This kitchen is torn apart and filled with terror which forms a daunting feel.
The floorboards have been ripped apart. This instantly would make the audience feel frightened and anxious about what to expect in the film.
In the hallway we discovered suitcases. These are props that have no effect in the film yet gives the creepy vibe.
This is a picture of a bedroom. Also you can see there is no wall paper, the glass is strattered. This immediately creates a sense of fear for the audience because that is not a ‘normal’ bedroom . The smashed window is an enigma because it causes the viewers to question why and how it got smashed.
We found a room which had old components of a toilet, it had a very creepy feel to it. As you can see again the sink is falling apart which creates the fear within the setting.
When we were viewing the location we noticed the bathroom and straight away the sick is broken and cracked on the floor. We did no damage to the house it was already done. This is good for us to use as the location as it is creepy and dangerous which sets our setting for our film perfect.
Here I have used google maps to show the location of our setting.
Another psychological thriller our group is aware of is “Psycho”.
We have classified our thriller as psychological because the main character has almost powers that allow her to move from one place to another, which is playing with the boys minds.
The introduction ends with one of the boys being taken in by the girl, this is can psychologically play with minds of the audience as well as the characters in the thriller.

Initial Title Idea's
Our film is a thriller and we want the title to highlight the fact that its a thriller film. We also want our title to be unique and noticable as soon as you hear the name.
There are four idea that we could use for our title.
'Basement' is an iconic name, it has a one word feel about it which makes it more dramatic. This also is a title that makes the audience think questions ' what is in the basement?' this keeps the viewers intrigued to keep watching. This title fits in with our thriller because the basement is the way to escape if we was to continue the film.

'Identity' is another idea which has a one word feel about. This psychological and makes the audience think and use your brain to understand the movie. This links in with out film as th character 'Pearce's' identity is taken from him as he becomes possessed like the main character 'the girl'.
Sprit is a great title as the word suggest spooky, scary stuff and a sprit is the core of your soul. This link in with our thriller because again both 'peacre's' and 'the girl' have a awful sprit.
Getaway is different title to the other suggestions, when you think of getaway audience will immediately understand of an escape is going to happen in the film. The character 'james' needs to escape from the house to secure his life as his friend has also be possessed by 'the girl'. This links nicely to what would happen after the opening two minutes as the film progresses.
